Sooo I recently went to a party where people just made art, and took the task way too seriously by doing some textual collaging. I brought the 2022 California Official Voter Information Guide, which is so dry and attacks you with too much information, and cut it up with a bunch of old magazines from the 90s. Points if you can guess which ones. And although the collage looks like something a runaway children’s cult would submit to a local fair at the end of the world, I’m pretty proud of it. Why not lean into the malaise as a way to get people to vote? Because obviously the blind optimism of “Rock the Vote” or “Make Your Vote Count” is not working. Also the QR code actually takes you to the Secretary of State’s election website.
