quick note
on a motion to unseal discovery in the DOJ's investigation of the city attorney's office and ladwp
Yesterday the Los Angeles Times and Consumer Watchdog filed a petition in federal court to release a number of FBI search warrants and other discovery related to the federal government’s criminal investigation into the LA City Attorney’s Office and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. This is important, as it could finally publicly unveil a number of bombshell allegations, chief among them that former City Attorney Mike Feuer lied to the FBI, prosecutors and a grand jury. Feuer has escaped prosecution while others have taken the fall for allowing an extortion payment to coverup collusion in his office and inside LADWP. Blood, Hurst & O’Reardon and Kelly Aviles are also joining in on the petition.
These are serious allegations that have eluded the city’s most elite attorneys and politicians, and we’ll see how a judge rules in the coming weeks. I’m on paternity leave and really trying to be present for baby so apologies if this goes silent for a while. I’ll try and keep you updated but if not keep an eye out at the LAT or Consumer Watchdog, which is also my employer and has been on top of this issue from the jump.
