I’m re-upping my story yesterday on the sentencing of the last defendant in the massive LADWP/City Attorney corruption case, since my initial story was a deadline work in progress. I think most of you read these via email, so always check the website for the most updated versions of stories.
To sum it up: Mike Feuer, the former LA City Attorney and now a candidate for U.S Congress, lied to a federal grand jury. It was over his knowledge of a 2017 extortion payment to conceal litigation collusion during his time as the City Attorney. That’s what the FBI determined, according to former city lawyer Paul Paradis. That definitely looks like it’s a crime, but the U.S. Attorney’s office didn’t prosecute him.
Anyway, it was one of the crazier sentencings I’ve attended. Here’s the updated version.
And if you want more background, check out this story on the government blocking thousands of documents related to their LADWP investigation. It all makes much more sense now given what Paul Paradis said.
More soon.
