a night of jokes with RFK Jr.
check out my story in the new republic about the fishbowl of support the elite populist has attracted in southern california.
A few years ago I was in court covering a lawsuit against Southern California Gas Company, whose ruptured gas line caused the largest methane leak in U.S. history. There among many of the lawyers who sued the utility giant was Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He was alone; reporters didn’t talk to him. Fast forward to today and he’s written about every 10 minutes, an elite populist running for president who is freaking out the Beltway establishment and Trumpism.
The New Republic asked me to write about RFK’s Hollywood support and to attend a comedy night hosted by his campaign and wife Cheryl Hines. Comedians included Adam Corolla and Rob Schneider. But it became obvious once I got to the Million Dollar Theater in downtown LA that the crowd was not a Hollywood one, or even really an LA one. I’ll leave it at that. You can read the story in the May issue of the magazine, as well as here. Scroll down for some photos I took.
P.S. sorry I haven’t been posting much. I’m on paternity leave, but will return more regularly soon.
